An exhibition is currently taking place in Kyiv, organized as part of the EU and UNDP partnership aimed at raising awareness about the crucial role of emergency workers in saving lives and rebuilding communities.

The exhibition, titled“Rescue. Support. Protect” is conceived as “a space of light amid the darkness.”  serves as a beacon of hope, reflecting the challenges of the present, and is part of a broader communication campaign showcasing the stories of emergency service workers supported by UNDP and partners.

Through artistic displays and personal testimonies, the exhibition illustrates the faces behind rescue operations, medical assistance, and the restoration of critical infrastructure. Each portrait narrates tales of courage and empathy from those who act decisively even in perilous situations.

Among the featured stories are:

  • Oleksandr Bohachov — a rescuer using drones for locating people.
  • Olena Vaskovska — an energy worker who continued her job after evacuation.
  • Andrii Samusin — a psychologist supporting rescuers under stress.
  • Viktor Kurdvanivskyi — a medical technician saving lives during emergencies.
  • Kateryna Onipenko — a forensic officer documenting war crimes.
  • Anna Humenyuk — a psychologist aiding families of the deceased.
  • Oleh Polshcha — the leader of underwater demining, clearing waterways from debris.

The head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine emphasized that emergency service workers demonstrate extraordinary bravery every day.

“This exhibition honors their contributions to public safety and reaffirms the EU's commitment to support Ukraine’s recovery,” he stated.

The UNDP representative highlighted the vital role these workers play in rebuilding the country, mentioning that behind every rescue operation stands a person who chooses courage over fear.

The exhibition is open for viewing at Blockbuster Mall (Stepana Bandery Avenue, 36, Kyiv) from December 2 to 21.
