A new phase of «Hansen Town» has been launched in the Kyiv region, aimed at families fleeing from the war. Nearly 500 families from various regions such as Kherson, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, and Sumy are already residing here.

In Tarasivka, the construction of a new apartment building for families from frontline areas has been completed, as well as a dormitory for evacuees, a training space for IT academy students, and a shelter for women who have experienced the horrors of war. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Recovery of Ukraine, Oleksiy Kuleba.

«We have been actively communicating with the residents, and many emphasized that this project is not just about housing. It’s about restoring internal peace, feeling safe, and having the chance to start anew. Such initiatives lay the foundation for rebuilding communities and restoring hope,» added Kuleba.

Kuleba also recalled Mr. Hansen’s visit to the Kyiv region in spring 2023, where they first discussed the importance of providing housing for those who lost their homes. Since that visit, only eight months have passed until the opening of the first stage of housing complexes, and by the end of the year, families from frontline territories began moving into their new homes.

According to Kuleba, over the past two years, the Charity Hansen Ukrainian Mission has expanded its project to several localities, providing over 900 homes for approximately 4,000 internally displaced persons.

«Collaboration continues. This summer, Mr. Hansen and I launched a new project — the construction of another town in Hlevakha, Kyiv region. The design phase is nearing completion, and construction will begin soon. This will provide 720 new housing units,» announced Kuleba. — «It’s also important to integrate state programs into such initiatives by benefactors. For instance, nearly 130 families have already been able to purchase homes through the eRecovery certificates.»

Kuleba expressed gratitude to Hansen for their collaborative work, emphasizing that this project demonstrates the effectiveness of combining state tools and partner support to achieve real results for people. Such collaboration creates new models of recovery and opportunities for those who have suffered the most from the war.»

As a reminder, a year ago, the second phase of Hansen Town for elderly displaced persons was opened in the village of Kolonshchyna. The accommodations are comfortable, individual, and living here is free and for life.
