More than a thousand people have died in Asian countries due to severe rainfall that caused widespread flooding and landslides. CNN reports this news.
Heavy rains and winds sweeping through Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia were triggered by a tropical storm formed in the Malacca Strait. Another storm has hit Sri Lanka, and intense rains are now approaching southern India.
According to officials, the severe weather has claimed at least 502 lives in Indonesia, 355 in Sri Lanka, 176 in Thailand, and two in Malaysia.
In Indonesia, 406 individuals are reported missing.

In Sri Lanka, at least 212 fatalities have been reported due to floods and landslides, with more than 218 people considered missing.
