The Kyiv City Council approved the report on the Department of Culture's performance in implementing the program «Capital Culture: 2022–2024» based on the outcomes of 2024, particularly regarding public libraries.

Council member Victoria Mukha emphasized the significance of libraries that adapt to new challenges and community needs.

«Today's libraries are more than just books; they are spaces for learning, communication, and development. They are becoming increasingly open and modern. Over the past year, libraries added more than 75,000 new copies, and the number of visits exceeded 570,000», – stated Victoria Mukha.

She also noted that library spaces are expanding from reading rooms to multimedia and educational hubs.

«In 2024, there were 17,460 events held in Kyiv's libraries, attracting over 410,000 participants. Additionally, more than 80 courses on the Ukrainian language were offered in 68 libraries, showcasing the demand for new formats and confirming that libraries are becoming true community interaction centers», – added Victoria Mukha.
