In 2025, JSC «Ukrainian Railways» faced a loss of 66 wagons, 60 of which were due to shelling. Currently, over 100 passenger wagons are under repair.
This was announced during a press conference by the Chairman of the Board of UZ, Oleksandr Pertzovsky.
«This year, the war has cost us 60 passenger wagons. Another 6 have reached their maximum lifespan, making further operation unsafe. We are actively repairing our rolling stock - currently, more than 100 passenger wagons are in repair», - said Pertzovsky.
He noted that this year, 66 new wagons have been put into operation, which has somewhat compensated for the losses. For the next year, the company has preliminarily contracted another 100 wagons.
«We believe that soon a budget law will be adopted, which will include a program for the purchase of 100 wagons for Ukrainian Railways», - added the company's head.
According to UZ, one wagon carries an average of 10,164 passengers per year. Next year, this number is expected to increase to 10,600 passengers.
