The delegations from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a licensing agreement concerning the Ukrainian interceptor drone, Octopus. This was announced by Ukraine's Defense Minister, Denys Shmyhal, on Facebook.
He noted, "Together with our allies, we are enhancing Ukraine's air defense capabilities. The delegations from the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and the UK have signed a licensing agreement for the Octopus drone."
Shmyhal described this as a historic precedent and a significant advancement that will enable the production of Ukrainian interceptors in the UK, which have proven effective against the 'Shahed' drones.
According to the Minister, mass production of interceptors is planned, potentially reaching thousands per month. The manufactured units will be sent to Ukraine to bolster airspace protection.
Shmyhal expressed gratitude to the British partners for their collaboration, trust, and contribution to strengthening Ukraine's air defense system.
He also mentioned that three Ukrainian companies have received the Octopus technology for serial production of interceptor drones, while an additional eleven are preparing their production lines.
