The government has made a decision that will allow customs and border control to be conducted directly within train cars, eliminating lengthy stops at borders. This was announced by Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko.
"This format is already in operation on certain Intercity+ trains heading to Poland. Customs officers and border guards begin to check passengers while the train approaches the border," she noted.
According to her, there are plans to gradually extend this practice to sleeping cars on international night routes.
This regime will be implemented on the following routes:
- Kyiv — Przemyśl
- Kyiv — Chełm
"We expect to launch accelerated control in motion on certain trains starting in January, and then we will expand it to other trains on these routes," Svyrydenko informed.
