In early 2026, a new salt production facility will commence operations in the Odesa region, marking a significant development for the area. This was announced by the press service of the National Nature Park "Kuyalnik".
The company "Chornomorsky Salt Plant" has invested $2.8 million in constructing the plant, which will produce food and technical salt.
Construction began in 2024 and is currently in its final stages. The plant is expected to start operating in January 2026, with a production capacity of about 15,000 tons of salt per month.
"We are establishing the first industrial-scale salt plant in Ukraine, utilizing advanced technologies for purification and processing. This will meet over 50% of the salt market's needs," said co-founder Vitaliy Rudenko.
An important goal of the facility is to contribute to the restoration of the Kuyalnik estuary.
"We aim not only to produce salt but also to participate in restoring the Kuyalnik ecosystem. If we can reduce the excess salt and restore the natural balance, we will do so," emphasized Rudenko.
The National Nature Park "Kuyalnik" noted that salinity levels in the estuary have recently increased significantly, threatening its unique therapeutic muds.
The park is currently working on a project to reduce the salinity of the estuary without using budget funds.
To achieve this, the method of sedimentation of excess salts in special basins will be applied, a technology widely used globally.
"During hot weather, salinity levels in Kuyalnik exceed 300 parts per thousand. To preserve the therapeutic muds, this level needs to be reduced to 180-250 parts per thousand," park representatives added.
