The State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" has declared the successful completion of President Volodymyr Zelensky's initiative "Green Country," during which one billion trees were planted. This was reported by the company's press service.
The planting of the symbolic "billionth tree" took place at the Central Military Hospital in Kyiv, according to the statement.
Yuriy Bolokhovets, the general director of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine," stated that the oak tree chosen for this occasion symbolizes the resilience and strength of the Ukrainian people.
The press service also reminded that the "Green Country" program began in June 2021. Since then, "Forests of Ukraine" has been actively planting various tree species, including common pine, common oak, silver birch, and many others.
He emphasized that the state enterprise continues working on the second part of Zelensky's program, which aims to increase the forest area by 1 million hectares.
