As of the morning of November 18, Ukraine is experiencing significant power outages due to attacks on energy facilities. Affected areas include Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions; hourly blackout schedules have been implemented, ranging from 1.5 to 4 shifts until the end of the day. This was reported by NЕК "Ukrenergo" on Facebook.
"Due to Russian attacks, we have consumers without power in Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions. Emergency restoration work has begun where the security situation allows. Energy workers are doing everything possible to quickly restore damaged equipment," the message states.
In addition, due to adverse weather conditions (strong winds), as of the morning, 124 populated areas in 6 regions: Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Transcarpathian, Chernivtsi, and Dnipropetrovsk are fully or partially without electricity. Repair teams are working on restoring the damaged lines. Power supply to all affected consumers is expected to be restored by the end of the day.
As a result of previous missile and drone attacks, consumption restrictions continue to be implemented in most regions of Ukraine today. Hourly blackout schedules will be in place from 1.5 to 4 shifts. In all regions where blackout schedules are applied, there are also power limitation schedules for industrial consumers and businesses.
Ukrenergo also noted that electricity consumption remains high. Today, November 18, at 9:30 AM, it was at the same level as the previous day - Monday.
Yesterday, November 17, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the morning, which was 7.2% higher than the maximum of the previous working day - Friday, November 14. This change is due to falling temperatures and the application of fewer consumption restriction measures in most regions of Ukraine.
The company emphasized that there is a necessity for energy conservation throughout the day today. "Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances. If possible, move energy-intensive processes to after 10 PM," advises Ukrenergo.
