In Poland, an explosive device was placed on the railway line between Warsaw and Lublin, resulting in the destruction of a section of the track. Damage was also noted in another area near Lublin. This was reported by Prime Minister Donald Tusk on social media platform X.
«Unfortunately, our worst suspicions have been confirmed. A sabotage act occurred on the Warsaw-Lublin line (Mika village). The explosive device detonated and destroyed the railway track. Special services and prosecutors are working at the scene. Damage has also been discovered closer to Lublin», Tusk wrote.
He illustrated his post with a photo showing himself with Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński and the coordinator of special services Tomasz Siemoniak at the site of the incident.
On Sunday, November 16, the Prime Minister noted on social media that the destruction of the railway section on the Dęblin-Warsaw route could be an act of sabotage. He stated that no one was harmed as a result of the possible sabotage, and relevant authorities are conducting an investigation.
The Polish publication Onet reported that there was a power line damage on the tracks near the town of Puławy. As a result of the incident, a window was broken in a passing train. The relevant services and prosecutor's office have been informed.
This is the first officially confirmed case of sabotage on Polish railways.
Recently, Tusk stated in an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza that Putin aims to destabilize the European Union from within, using the Russian «fifth column» in the Community countries.
Additionally, a DDoS attack on the popular payment system BLIK has been recorded, and hackers also stole data from Polish clients of the well-known travel agency «Nova Itaka».
