On the evening of November 10, at 6:52 PM local time, an explosion occurred in a car in the Indian city of Delhi. As a result of this incident, eight people lost their lives and around 20 were injured and taken to the hospital. The vehicle that exploded was located near one of the most famous historical sites – the Red Fort, as reported by BBC.
The landmark, visited daily by thousands of tourists, was closed for three days to prevent crowds during the investigation. According to local police, the explosion happened when the car, moving slowly, stopped at a red traffic light.
No shrapnel was found at the scene. There are no official confirmations regarding the cause of the explosion: authorities state they are "considering all possibilities".
It is known that the police registered the incident under both anti-terrorism and explosives legislation.
