Temporary Border Restrictions in Ukraine

Due to technical issues, entry and exit of citizens through border checkpoints in Ukraine has been temporarily suspended.

The entry and exit of citizens through border checkpoints in Ukraine has been temporarily halted due to a technical failure in the customs database. This has been reported by the State Border Guard Service.

The issue arises from a malfunction in the system that processes the entry and exit of citizens and vehicles crossing into and out of Ukraine.

Officials indicate that specialists are already working to restore the database's functionality. Once the problems are resolved, border crossing operations will resume in full.

Citizens and carriers are advised to take these temporary restrictions into account when planning their travels and to monitor further official updates.

Previously, it was reported that Poland has connected the “Khrebenne-Rava-Ruska” checkpoint to the new Entry/Exit System (EES).

The European Union has launched a new biometric control system EES, which replaces traditional passport stamps and automatically records data on the entry and exit of third-country citizens, including Ukrainians.

This system officially went into operation on October 12, 2025, at the external borders of the EU, particularly along the borders with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.

During the first border crossing, travelers undergo registration, including photographing and fingerprinting, after which all subsequent checks are conducted automatically.
