On November 7, Ukraine was elected to the UNESCO Executive Board for 2025–2029 with the highest number of votes. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on Telegram.
"Together with Romania and Moldova, we outpaced Russia: for the second consecutive time, Moscow has lost the elections and will not be part of the Council," Zelensky noted.
He expressed gratitude to the member states that supported Ukraine's candidacy.
"Together with our partners, we will utilize all opportunities that UNESCO provides to restore life, protect our culture, heritage, and people. We will ensure that all forms of Russian aggression—whether war or hybrid threats—receive a proper response. There is no alternative to peace. It is time for Moscow to realize this," emphasized Zelensky.
