German Military Reinforcements Arrive in Belgium

German military units have arrived in Belgium to assist in safeguarding the airspace from unidentified drones.

Responding to a request from the Belgian authorities, German military units have arrived in the country to enhance airspace security against drones. This was reported by the DPA news agency.
The German Air Force has already begun operations in Belgium, assessing the situation and coordinating with local military to discuss the temporary use of detection and counter-drone measures.
The defense ministry added that the main forces will arrive soon.
On November 5, Prime Minister Bart De Wever convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Council following several drone incidents. Belgian intelligence services suspect Russia's involvement.
At the meeting, it was decided to strengthen the National Air Security Center (NASC) and consider measures to combat drones.

Unidentified Drones in Belgian Airspace

On the night of October 29, unidentified drones were spotted over the military base in Marche-en-Famen, marking the second sighting within a few days. They were first seen over the Elsenborn military base in eastern Belgium.
On November 2, unidentified drones were spotted twice near the Kleine-Brogel military airbase. Police attempted to intercept them, but were unsuccessful.
On the evening of November 4, drones appeared over Brussels airport, causing flight suspensions twice. Similar incidents occurred over Liège airport and near military airbases Kleine-Brogel, Florennes, and Schaffen.
On the evening of November 6, Brussels airport halted operations again due to the sighting of an unidentified drone.
Since September 10, 2025, Russia has been violating the airspace of NATO member countries, with Russian drones, aircraft, and unidentified UAVs regularly detected over Poland, Romania, Estonia, Denmark, France, and Germany.
