Ukraine is in discussions to establish a long-term gas supply contract with Azerbaijan via the Trans-Balkan corridor. This was stated by Ukraine's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husev, in an interview with Report.
“We are aiming for closer collaboration in the energy sector between our countries,” Husev noted.
He mentioned that the first contract for the supply of Azerbaijani gas through the Trans-Balkan corridor has already been signed.
“We hope for further steps in enhancing cooperation in energy, bilateral trade, humanitarian areas, and education. We recognize our common interests in energy independence and efficiency in Central and Eastern Europe, which will also be of great interest to Azerbaijan,” Husev emphasized.
The ambassador also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
“We greatly appreciate Azerbaijan's support in the form of humanitarian assistance and the supply of electrical equipment, which we desperately need, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration,” he stated.
It is noteworthy that earlier, the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKP) simplified the gas transportation process to Ukraine via the Trans-Balkan corridor.
