An explosion at a fuel station in the industrial region of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, has left four individuals injured, two of them critically. This information was reported by Welt.
The incident occurred while servicing a liquid gas tanker in a truck repair workshop in Castrop-Rauxel, located in the Ruhr area. Two of the injured sustained life-threatening burns and were airlifted to the hospital. The other two suffered minor injuries.
The workshop, situated near the fuel station, was destroyed, and several vehicles on-site were damaged.
The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown. According to local authorities, a fire broke out during the cleaning of the tanker at the dispatch warehouse. The fire department stated that the explosion, which happened on Friday morning, led to a subsequent fire.
Around 70 firefighters are involved in the operation to manage the aftermath of the fire.
