The Ukrainian government has approved new regulations for participants in the gambling market aimed at combating gambling addiction. The Ministry of Digital Transformation announced that the purpose of this new decree is to protect individuals from gambling addiction.
"The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution that establishes clear rules for the gambling business. The main focus is to safeguard citizens from pathological gambling behavior," the official statement reads.
This document for the first time provides a definition of problematic gambling behavior at the regulatory level. This will allow timely responses to undesirable changes in players' behavior before the situation becomes critical.
Thus, gambling organizers are required to monitor player activity. If signs of severe addiction are detected, participation in the game for that individual will be suspended, although winnings will be retained.
Additionally, organizers must block access to accounts at the player's request. After this, it will be impossible to top up the account or continue playing.
Players will not be allowed to participate in games without setting time and spending limits. Organizers will ensure these limits are adhered to and regularly remind players of their spending and playing time, providing them with the option to stop playing.
Furthermore, market participants will provide consultations to players regarding gambling addiction and inform them about the risks associated with it.
