Scammers are widely distributing fake emails supposedly from the Ukrainian State Tax Service. This was reported by acting head Lesya Karnauh on the official website.
“The subject of the email involves a notification regarding a “financial audit concerning the legalization of funds» related to a certain organization. I emphasize! The Tax Service has no relation to this mailing, so we ask everyone to exercise caution,” highlighted Karnauh.
The emails contain harmful software. Opening the attached file can trigger a malicious program that allows unauthorized access to the user's personal computer. There is a real danger of virus infection for personal computers.
Additionally, the messages are sent from email accounts that are in no way connected to the Tax Service.
The agency advises: do not open attachments in suspicious emails and follow personal cybersecurity rules.
On May 28, 2025, the State Tax Service of Ukraine reported mass distribution of fraudulent emails allegedly from its name. The attachments in the emails contained harmful software that activates upon opening a PDF file. After clicking, the software provides remote access to the computer for malicious actors.
