The Czech volunteer organization known as Darek pro Putina ("Gift for Putin") managed to raise funds to purchase the "Flamingo" missile for Ukrainian soldiers in a record time of 48 hours. This was announced by the initiative's organizer, Martin Ondracek, in a comment to Novinky.
“We anticipated that we would collect the amount in a week, but it happened in just 48 hours, which was beyond our expectations“, Ondracek noted.
He also mentioned that he plans to enter into new negotiations with the missile manufacturer “Flamingo”, Fire Point. Ondracek stated that they have an agreement that will be a surprise for those who contributed to the missile purchase. Further details were not disclosed.
Interestingly, the missile funded by ordinary Czechs is set to be named DANA 1 in honor of the renowned scientist Dana Drabova.
The idea of dedicating a weapon to a well-known Czech scientist was not accidental. Two years ago, Drabova expressed that she would not mind if a type of weapon were named after her in the future.
The initiative “Gift for Putin” was launched in 2022, proposed by investor Dalibor Dedek, and organized by journalist Ondracek. Recently, activists announced the start of a new fundraising campaign for the purchase of a Ukrainian missile.
