On Wednesday, October 22, one of the world’s most renowned museums – the Louvre in Paris, France – reopened its doors after a robbery that occurred just days earlier. According to Reuters.
The Louvre in Paris resumed operations on October 22, just three days after thieves made off with valuable royal artifacts.
The stolen items are estimated to be worth approximately 88 million euros.
Recall that the robbery took place on the morning of October 19 and lasted less than 10 minutes. A total of nine jewels belonging to Napoleon and Empress Eugenie were stolen. So far, two have been recovered: a damaged crown of Eugenie and another item.
Following this high-profile theft, it emerged that an unpublished report from France's Court of Auditors highlighted significant security issues at the Louvre.
Media outlets reported that after the incident, museum director Laurence de Car submitted her resignation, but the Elysee Palace declined to accept it.
