In the United States, the demolition of part of the east wing of the White House has begun. At the direction of President Donald Trump, a new ballroom is set to be constructed there. He shared this news on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Trump emphasized that the east wing is a separate building, not directly connected to the main part of the White House, and after the renovation, it will «look even more beautiful than ever».
«For over 150 years, every president has dreamed of having a ballroom in the White House for hosting grand parties, state visits, and more. It is a great honor for me to be the first president to finally initiate this much-needed project», — Trump wrote.
The U.S. president also highlighted that the renovation is funded by private donations. According to him, «many generous patriots» support the construction, and he himself has also contributed to the project. Earlier, the BBC reported that Trump estimated the cost of the ballroom addition to be around 250 million dollars, assuring that the work would not interfere with the operation of the main White House building.
