The wealthiest person in the world, Elon Musk, has declared that the beta version of Grokipedia, a rival to Wikipedia, will be launched in two weeks. He shared this news on social media platform X.
«The early beta version 0.1 of Grokipedia will be released in two weeks», - Musk stated late on Sunday, October 5.
According to NDTV, Grokipedia is being developed by xAI, one of Musk's companies, which is also behind the AI chatbot Grok.
Musk announced the project by retweeting a post from user @amXFreeze, which describes Grokipedia as «the largest and most accurate source of knowledge in the world for people and artificial intelligence, with no usage restrictions».
«Grok employs massive computations for logical conclusions, reviewing sources like Wikipedia, and asks itself: what of this is true, partially true, false, or what is missing?», according to a tweet from @amXFreeze.
Musk has repeatedly criticized the funding and editorial approach of Wikipedia.
His suggestion to use artificial intelligence for «navigating towards the truth» has elicited mixed reactions on social media platform X.
Some users expressed support for the new competitor to Wikipedia, while others cautioned that Grok's training data could lead to new biases.
It is worth noting that in July, Musk's company xAI introduced a new AI model, Grok 4, and announced a new monthly subscription for AI priced at $300.
