A 60-year-old man opened fire in a chaotic shooting spree in Sydney, Australia, injuring 20 individuals. CBS News reported this incident citing the New South Wales police.
Acting Police Chief Steven Perry stated that on Sunday evening, between 7:45 PM and 9:30 PM local time, in the Croydon Park area, the suspect fired «between 50 and 100 shots».
A large police unit surrounded the area and closed off the street before entering one of the buildings and arresting the 60-year-old man. Two rifles were confiscated at the scene.
As a result of the shooting, one man is in critical condition due to a gunshot wound, while 19 others were injured by shards of glass and other debris, with several taken to the hospital.
According to police, the shooting suspect was also transported to the hospital for medical attention due to injuries sustained during the arrest.
Currently, no charges have been filed against the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
