It’s still September, yet the Carpathians are experiencing true winter. This information has been provided by the State Emergency Service.
This morning on Mount Pip Ivan, snow, fog, and a northern wind of 4 m/s were recorded, with the air temperature at -3°C. The mountains have swiftly shifted to winter conditions, making it particularly hazardous for tourists at this time.
In the coming nights, meteorologists from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center forecast cold temperatures in:
- western regions, except for Transcarpathia – ground frosts of 0–5 °C (October 2);
- Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv regions – ground frosts of 0–5 °C (October 3). A Level I danger (yellow) has been announced;
- in Prykarpattia, as well as on the 3rd in Volyn, Rivne, and Zhytomyr, air frosts of 0–3 °C are expected. A Level II danger (orange) has been declared.
Make sure to stay warm and exercise caution when traveling in the mountains – winter is already making its presence known.
