The Hungarian government has decided to ban several Ukrainian media outlets in retaliation for Ukraine's actions against some pro-Russian publications. This was reported by government spokesperson Zoltan Kovach in a post on social media platform X.
Kovach quoted the head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office, Gergely Gulyás, who stated that Ukraine blocked foreign news sites, including Hungarian ones, for allegedly criticizing sanctions against Russia, military aid to Ukraine, and for portraying the EU and NATO as fragmented and ineffective.
Gulyás emphasized that adhering to the principle of reciprocity, Hungary is taking mirror measures against Ukrainian news portals, which will no longer be accessible in Hungary.
The list of banned outlets includes 12 Ukrainian media, such as: tsn.ua; oboz.ua; anons-zak.com.ua; ungvar.uz.ua; zakarpattya.net.ua; pravda.com.ua; hromadske.ua; nv.ua; lb.ua; insiderinfo.com.ua; uaonline.com.ua; eurointegration.com.ua.
In Ukraine, 15 foreign sites disseminating Russian propaganda were also blocked, including Hungarian-language resources: News Front, Bal-Rad, Hirlistazo, Demokrata, Vdtablog, Origo, Szilaj Csikó, Pravda Magyarország.
