Germany has gained popularity among Ukrainian refugees, as reported by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat).

Germany Leads: Ukrainian Refugees

As of the end of 2024, over 1.14 million Ukrainians with temporary protection reside in Germany. This is 150,000 more than in Poland, which was previously the leader in accepting Ukrainian refugees.

In 2022, Poland hosted over 1.3 million Ukrainian refugees, but that number has now reduced to 983,000.

Czech Republic ranks third in terms of Ukrainian refugees (379,000 people).

The reasons for Ukrainians moving from Poland to Germany include higher wages, better social benefits, and improved healthcare services.

Moreover, educational reforms and stricter access conditions to social programs in Poland have also influenced migration.

Eurostat notes a trend of Ukrainian refugees moving from Central-Eastern Europe to the western and southern regions of the continent.

Plans for Return Centers for Ukrainians in Europe

Return Centers for Ukrainians may be established in the Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland.

These institutions are expected to assist Ukrainian migrants in returning home and serve as cultural hubs.

According to The New York Times, the Trump administration suspended immigration entry programs.

This also affects Ukrainians.

In Poland, there are proposals to limit child assistance payments of 800+ zlotys for Ukrainians, offering it only to those who work and pay taxes.
