This award was established at the initiative of the Institute's President, Oleksandr Herasymenko, and is presented annually on Ukraine's Independence Day. Its goal is to support Ukrainian authors, publishers, and creative community members who have made significant contributions to the promotion of Ukrainian literature, the development of literary criticism, and the establishment of high artistic standards.

The decision on the laureates was made by the Expert Council of the Institute of Political and Legal Studies. The names of the winners have been published on the official website.

The «Kyiv Book of the Year» award continues to play a vital role in shaping the cultural landscape of the country, supporting authors who strengthen Ukrainian identity through words and creativity.

The event was held with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the European Cultural Assembly, the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, and the Kyiv City State Administration.

Interestingly, Ukrainian youth have spent over 90 million hryvnias on the eBook program.
