As a result of Israeli airstrikes on the Nasser Hospital in Gaza, at least 15 people have died, including four journalists.
This has been reported by Reuters.
According to Palestinian officials, Reuters contractor Husam al-Masri was killed in the first strike.
Photographer Hatem Khaled, also a Reuters contractor, was injured in the second strike, which occurred after rescuers and journalists arrived at the attack site.
Among the deceased are freelancer Mariam Abu Daghah from the Associated Press, journalist Mohammed Salama from the Qatari channel Al Jazeera, and journalist Moaz Abu Taha. One rescuer also lost their life.
According to the Palestinian Journalists' Union, over 240 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed conducting strikes in this area, as reported by Times of Israel.
Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, chief of the IDF General Staff, ordered an immediate investigation into the strike on Nasser Hospital.
«The IDF regrets any harm caused to innocents (civilians – ed.), and does not target journalists in any way,» the military command stated.
