Greeting from the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day.

Dear friends! Esteemed colleagues!
August 24 is a significant date for every Ukrainian. It embodies not just the culmination of generations' struggles for the right to exist in our own state, but also a deep hope and understanding that each of us must fight for Ukraine today. Some do so on the front lines, while others support from the rear. Yet, we must all strive together toward the grand goal of ensuring our country remains free and can determine its own destiny. Each day spent in war adds even greater weight to this significant date. We have learned that freedom is never given freely; it must be earned, often through difficult trials and sacrifices. Thus, we bow our heads in memory of those who gave their lives so that Ukraine could remain free, and we will do everything in our power to ensure their sacrifice was not in vain.

Today, Ukraine is at the center of historical events. However, only we can determine the path our country must take. This is not just our right, but a great responsibility. We face a monumental task to prevent the imposition of the yoke of the 'Russian world' once more. We must fulfill the testament of our immortal Kobzar! To rise and finally break the chains that have held us in the Moscow pseudo-empire for centuries.

Today, the SBU units, as part of the Security and Defense Forces, are tirelessly defending our freedom. We are fighting the occupier on land, in the skies, and at sea. We penetrate deep into their rear and strike where they least expect it. We expose enemy agents and spies on our territory. We are committed to ensuring that every August, Ukrainians celebrate another Independence Day while our state remains powerful and prosperous.

Only our unwavering unity, mutual trust, and shared vision for the future – in a united and independent Ukraine – can stop the enemy and break the spine of their criminal army.
