During a briefing in Washington after talks at the White House, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the exchange of military and civilian prisoners must be a core part of the negotiation process.

Zelensky mentioned at the briefing that the American side, including the First Lady, is ready to engage in this challenging but crucial issue, particularly regarding the return of Ukrainian children.

"I discussed this with the US President, and he supports my initiative for an all-for-all exchange. This involves not just military personnel but also civilians, including journalists and political prisoners. We agreed to work on this together," Zelensky highlighted.

It is worth noting that previously Trump stated that a potential prisoner exchange could take place after trilateral talks involving the USA, Ukraine, and Russia. He indicated that Russia might provide security guarantees for Ukraine, but partners need to discuss the specifics.
