US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are scheduled to meet on August 15 at the joint military base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.

This was reported by CNN, citing reliable sources.

As the channel notes, US officials faced challenges in finding a location for the Friday summit due to the tourist season peak and elevated security requirements.

“The summit organizers concluded that the only viable city in the vast state was Anchorage. Only the joint military base on the northern outskirts of the city meets the security demands for this historic event, although the White House hoped to avoid hosting the Russian leader and his entourage on American military soil,” CNN reports.

It is noted that Russia declined European locations due to the International Criminal Court warrant for Putin's arrest. Thus, alternatives considered included the UAE, Hungary, and the US, with the Kremlin ultimately agreeing to the American territory.

As reported by Ukrinform, Donald Trump intends to meet with Vladimir Putin on August 15 in Alaska.

The initiative for the meeting between the US and Russian presidents arose during the special envoy Steve Witkoff's visit to Moscow from the Russian side.

Demonstrations are planned in downtown Anchorage on the eve and day of the Trump-Putin summit.

US President Donald Trump and Vice President Jay D. Vance will participate in a virtual meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders of several European countries on August 13.
