In Cherkasy, during a routine check, soldiers stopped a man who suddenly produced a grenade and pulled the pin.

This was reported by the Cherkasy Regional Territorial Recruitment Center on Facebook.

«This morning, during alerting measures in the city of Cherkasy, on Khimikiv Avenue, soldiers from the Cherkasy RTC stopped a person for verification of their identity. During a brief conversation, the man pulled out a grenade, removed the pin, and began threatening to detonate it, trying to take military personnel hostage,» the statement says.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and are currently engaging with the individual. Military personnel from the TCC are at a safe distance.

Special services are also present at the site to clarify the circumstances and resolve the situation.

Law enforcement will provide a legal assessment of the citizen's actions.
