During the conference focused on the restoration of Ukraine, held in Rome, a significant meeting took place between President Volodymyr Zelensky and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

The President expressed gratitude to the IAEA for their support and readiness to assist Ukraine during these challenging times. He emphasized that the protection of nuclear infrastructure is crucial for ensuring Ukraine's energy stability and security.

In the presence of President Zelensky, Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and Rafael Grossi signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining the main areas of cooperation for the IAEA's assistance in the restoration process.

This document confirms that the IAEA will act as a guarantor of safety during the construction of additional units at the Khmelnytsky Nuclear Power Plant and also supports the development of uranium extraction and production in Ukraine, which is a vital aspect of strengthening our energy independence.
