Fire Crisis in Kharkiv Region: 26 Ongoing Blazes

In the Kharkiv region, efforts are underway to combat 26 fires in natural ecosystems, including forest fires.

In the Kharkiv region, rescue teams are currently battling 26 fires, five of which are classified as forest fires.

This information was reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region via Telegram.

“The liquidation of 26 fires in natural ecosystems is ongoing, with 5 being forest fires. 6 of the fires have been localized,” the message states.

Rescue units are working alongside local and volunteer fire teams, as well as forest service employees, in the Izium, Chuhuiv, Bohodukhiv, Lozova, and Kharkiv districts.

According to the department, forest areas are ablaze in the Prydonetske, Borivske, and Petrivske forestry units in the Izium district, as well as near the village of Lyzohubivka and the town of Vasyshcheve in the Kharkiv district. Fires have also been reported in two wheat and stubble fields (in the village of Rozdollia in the Lozova district and the village of Taraniivka in the Chuhuiv district).

As spokesperson for the Kharkiv State Emergency Service, Yevhen Vasylenko, noted, the largest fires cover areas of 23 and 20 hectares. The causes of the fires vary from shelling to careless handling of fire or possibly arson.
