Beware! Fraud Schemes on Social Media

Learn how to protect yourself from fraudsters on social media who use phishing tactics to steal personal information.

Fraudsters are increasingly using social media and messaging apps to send messages that appear to be from banks regarding a «cash reward» for participating in a survey.

This was reported by the State Special Communications Service.

These messages contain links to phishing websites designed to mimic the official branding of the bank. Victims who click on the link are taken to a site where they are asked to complete a survey, after which they are prompted to enter their phone number, SMS code, and PIN.
The information obtained is then used by fraudsters to link the victim's account to a new device or for unauthorized online banking access, allowing them to withdraw funds from the victim's account.

How to avoid falling victim to fraud?

  • Check the website address before entering payment card details or passwords – phishing sites can closely resemble legitimate ones.
  • Trust only official sources! Verify survey and payment information on official institutional websites.
  • Do not click on links from messages; search for the necessary site independently through a search engine.

Have you fallen victim to fraud? Immediately contact your bank and file a report with the Cyber Police.
