In Gdansk, Poland, rescuers have announced the evacuation of around 200 people due to damage to a gas pipeline.
Fire chief Jacek Jakubczyk from the Gdansk City Fire Department commented on the situation to Polsat News, stating that it is serious.
The damage to the gas pipeline was detected at the Westerplatte terminal, with the fire service being alerted shortly after noon.
Six fire brigades and a gas emergency management team were dispatched to the scene. Rescuers decided to evacuate about 200 individuals from the terminal and nearby establishments, including dining venues.
While traffic in the port channel was not entirely halted, the dock was taken out of service due to the incident, noted a representative of the Gdansk fire service.
