A new platform aimed at supporting families of persons who went missing under special circumstances was unveiled in Kyiv.
The platform was introduced at a press conference held by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
This official portal is designed to coordinate the search for missing individuals and provide assistance to their families.
«We have gathered all necessary information to aid the families of the missing. Our goal is to create an information bridge between the authorities conducting searches and the families in need of updates. We aim to establish strong connections so that families feel supported and know that everything possible is being done to find their loved ones», said Maryana Reva, Director of the Communication Department at the Ministry.
The platform includes guidance on how to initiate a search, file a report, provide DNA samples for identification, obtain extracts from the registry of missing persons, and learn about rights and social guarantees.
«In each region, we have established specialized units for searching missing persons. This platform will greatly enhance families' awareness of these specialized units and assist them in quickly finding investigators and case details, as well as information on how to submit biological samples for matching», explained Kristina Podiryako, Head of the Crime Investigation Management at the National Police.
The platform will provide comprehensive information about who is involved in the search for missing persons, where to seek help, and how to interact with law enforcement and forensic experts.
«This is a living system where we have committed to clearly explaining who does what and providing current links. There are established protocols in each agency involved in the search for missing persons. We show family representatives where to go for assistance on various issues and inform them about all functions, developments, and recent updates regarding ongoing searches», noted Arthur Dobroserdov, the commissioner for missing persons.
The platform is intended to serve as a coordination center for the search for missing persons and provide support to their families, uniting the efforts of various state bodies and NGOs.
It is available online on the Ministry's website.
A unified body identification registry may begin operations in Ukraine later this year.
