New Electrical Standards Regulation in Ukraine

As of July 1, 2025, Ukraine will implement a new European voltage standard to enhance the quality of electricity supply.

Starting July 1, 2025, Ukraine will adopt the European voltage standard of 230/400 V.

This information is stated in the resolution of the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities (NERC) No. 550 dated April 15.

The document amends the Distribution System Code, introducing European approaches to defining electricity quality parameters. The nominal voltage will now be set at 230/400 V, with an allowable deviation of 10% (ranging from 207 to 253 V).

The DSTU EN 50160:2014 standard, which previously defined voltage characteristics in power networks, lost its validity in March 2024. In May of the same year, a new standard harmonized with the European EN 50160 was approved, set to take effect on March 1, 2025.

NERC expects that transitioning to these European standards will positively impact electricity supply quality. Stable voltage will reduce the risk of damage to sensitive household appliances and decrease the need for additional protective devices like stabilizers. Furthermore, this will enhance energy efficiency as appliances will operate under optimal conditions without overloads and power losses.

The DTEK group emphasizes that household appliances are manufactured in compliance with EU requirements, ensuring that the transition to the new voltage standard will not harm them.
