The delegation from Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, led by Deputy Minister Valeriy Churkin, visited Tokyo at the invitation of Japanese Minister of Defense Gen Nakatani to participate in the DSEI Japan 2025 international exhibition.

DSEI Japan is one of the premier global platforms showcasing defense capabilities, technological advancements, and strategic dialogue among partner nations. This year's exhibition brought together over 250 companies from 35 countries and delegations from 40 defense ministries, including the USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, and Canada.

This event marked a historic moment for Ukraine, as it was represented for the first time by both the Ministry of Defense delegation and six enterprises from the Ukrainian defense industry.

The Ukrainian delegation held several bilateral meetings with representatives from defense ministries, government structures, and leading arms manufacturers, discussing future steps to deepen cooperation, technological exchange, and mutual strengthening of defense capabilities.

Ministry representatives also visited the Central Military Hospital of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, where Ukrainian wounded defenders are receiving treatment. Ukrainian servicemen were awarded departmental honors from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The delegation learned about the treatment and rehabilitation conditions, engaged with the hospital staff, and held discussions with medical institution leaders regarding further development of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation in military medicine.

«Ukraine is grateful to our Japanese partners for their support and humanity. At a time when the world views our country as a shield of freedom, our task is to strengthen strategic alliances and bring every one of our warriors home victorious,» emphasized Valeriy Churkin.
