The Ukrainian Red Cross, with the support of the Austrian Red Cross, is launching a pilot project - a social taxi service in the Lviv, Transcarpathian, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv regions.
This was announced by the press service of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
"This service will be available for people who need medical examinations outside their homes, have temporary mobility impairments, such as fractures, or are physically unable to move around the city independently," said Oleksandr Babenko, acting head of the health department.
The service provides assistance from volunteers in transporting individuals from their homes to the vehicle (ambulance) using wheelchairs or stretchers, accompanying them to medical facilities for scheduled examinations or procedures, and returning them home after the visit.
In the initial phase, the service will be available to beneficiaries under the "Home Care" program — elderly individuals living alone and persons with disabilities.
After analyzing the initial results of the project and the work of the teams, there are plans to expand the service to other regions of Ukraine.
