The Galway City Library celebrated the inauguration of the «Ukrainian Book Shelf» — a significant cultural initiative aimed at strengthening the bonds between Ukraine and Ireland. The Ukrainian Embassy in Ireland shared this news via Facebook.
The event featured the participation of Ukraine's ambassador, Larysa Heras'ko, who emphasized that books have always been a symbol of freedom and identity for Ukrainians. As Ukraine fights for its independence, culture serves as our voice in the world. For Irish readers, this shelf introduces Ukrainian literature and history, while for the Ukrainian community, it represents a piece of home.
Special thanks were extended to Natalia Korniienko, director of the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Ireland, who was the driving force behind this initiative.
The embassy also expressed gratitude to the management of Galway City Library, local authorities, and Ukrainian activists for their support and collaboration.
It is worth noting that previously, a Ukrainian book shelf was opened at Ballybane Library in Galway, making Ukrainian literature and publications consistently accessible to local readers.
