The Ukrainian human rights organization “Center for Civil Liberties” (CCL) is launching the Igor Kozlovsky Award, which will be presented annually. This information is available on the organization’s website.
The award will honor individuals, initiatives, campaigns, and communities that affirm human dignity in culture, education, politics, business, media, military, science, and other areas of public life.
“Sometimes we defend dignity without even calling it human rights advocacy - when we support others, speak the truth, stand for justice, or simply do not look the other way. We at the Center for Civil Liberties call this unconscious human rights advocacy. The Igor Kozlovsky Award recognizes such individuals - those who make the world a more humane place through their actions,” states the award’s website.
As noted by CCL, the goal of the award is to demonstrate that human rights advocacy is not just the task of a narrow circle of specialists but a daily practice for everyone. The award will be given for a specific contribution or achievement made during the current year.
Anyone can nominate a person or group, initiative or campaign, organization or company of any ownership type - public, state, or private.
Nominations can be submitted by anyone through the online form. After that, the organizer processes the applications and submits them to the jury, which includes the head of the Center for Civil Liberties and four invited members. They select three finalists from whom the laureate will be chosen.
The award ceremony and announcement of the laureate will take place annually on December 10 - International Human Rights Day.
