Kyiv and the surrounding area have been the first to join the initiative to honor the memory of fallen heroes every day at 09:00. The practice of stopping vehicular traffic during this moment of silence will soon be expanded nationwide.
This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development via Telegram.
"The Ministry is implementing the practice of halting vehicle movement during the daily nationwide moment of silence at 09:00 in collaboration with local communities and regions," the statement said.
In the cities and villages of Kyiv region, traffic is already being stopped on main streets, and a similar order will soon be issued in the capital. On Khreshchatyk, traffic will be halted by the patrol police.
Earlier, the Ministry of Development, together with the NGO "Honor", presented a Roadmap for implementing the moment of silence. This is a concise but detailed guide for local government bodies, containing step-by-step instructions, legal justifications, examples of communication with citizens and media, as well as ready-made solutions for various situations — from the algorithms for stopping transport to audio and video support.
At 9:00, the center of Kyiv paused for a nationwide moment of silence, as reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, on Telegram.
He stated, "Today at 9:00, the center of the capital paused for a moment of silence in memory of all those killed by Russia."
Tkachenko thanked the drivers, pedestrians, and activists who participated.
