An event titled «Return Alive» took place in the center of Warsaw at Castle Square, supporting over 70,000 Ukrainian military and civilians who are still in Russian captivity or considered missing.
The initiative was organized on Saturday by the public group «Euromaidan-Warsaw» together with the charity fund «Heart in Action» and the project «Voices of the Captives», which supports the families of Ukrainian prisoners and shares their stories with the world.
The event featured empty chairs, symbolizing the absence of the captives, along with posters displaying photos, names, stories, and QR codes so that everyone could read the true stories of the captives.
"Silence is part of the torture. If we remain silent here, we allow that darkness to continue there. We must speak for those who are tortured, humiliated, and simply wish to survive and return home. As long as they are there, we must be their voice," said Emma Zahynayko, an organizer and volunteer from Euromaidan-Warsaw, during the event.
Throughout the event, everyone had the opportunity to write letters to Ukrainian soldiers who have gone through captivity and have returned home. The organizers stated that each letter would be delivered to its intended recipient.
