Mykola Kryvenko describes his works as «environments of silence» that create a space for contemplation rather than storytelling.
In the gallery «Mistrika», a personal exhibition of paintings and sculptures by artist Mykola Kryvenko is ongoing, whose name is often associated with non-figurative art and minimalism, emphasizing the significance of silence in perception.
The exhibition showcases new works created specifically for the «Silence» project as well as pieces from previous years, demonstrating the artist's style and sensitivity to changes.
«Mykola Kryvenko is a prominent representative of abstract minimalism. His works do not seek explanations; they exist as cycles, free from constraints and open to perception», the curators state.
The artist's style is often described as «meta-baroque abstractionism» due to its pastel colors and complex texture that conceals deep emotions.
«These canvases do not require understanding; they simply exist. The exhibition „Silence“ provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in tranquil perception, where there is only color and space», says Maxim Bernadsky, the co-founder of the gallery.
Kryvenko's sculptures, made from wood and metal, supplemented with denim fabric, create a balance between the lightness of painting and the materiality of sculpture, giving a special rhythm to the exhibition.
«We aimed to create a space where Kryvenko's works interact with the environment. „Silence“ is such an exhibition, where elements of the environment merge with the artist's creativity», the curators note.
