The United Kingdom has announced a provision of £13 million (over $17 million) to assist in the recovery of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has been severely impacted by Russian attacks. This was reported on the UK government's website.
«The UK is announcing new support for essential repairs in Ukraine's energy sector amid Russian bombardments and redistributing humanitarian aid for those most affected by the lack of electricity, heating, and water supply this winter,» the press release stated.
Additionally, the UK has declared its intention to prohibit companies from servicing and insuring maritime vessels transporting liquefied natural gas from Russia, relying on recent sanctions against two of Russia's largest oil companies, — «Rosneft» and «Lukoil».
«This measure will significantly reduce Russian LNG exports and directly cut access to leading maritime services in the UK. The ban will be implemented gradually throughout 2026 in cooperation with our European partners,» the statement added.
