As of May 11, the reserves of natural gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (UGS) amounted to 6.02 billion cubic meters, filling 19.4% of their capacity.

This information is provided by ExPro Daily Gas.

Compared to last year, there is 31.7% (2.79 billion cubic meters) less gas stored. Current reserves are the lowest for this date in at least 11 years.

It is noted that Ukraine continues to inject gas into underground storage, although the injection volumes have decreased to 26 million cubic meters as of May 11.

However, the injection volumes in May 2025 are higher than those of May last year. Overall, more than 350 million cubic meters of natural gas have been injected into storage since the beginning of the month, which is 33% more than the same period last year.

Since the start of this year's injection season (April 17), 610 million cubic meters of natural gas have been injected into Ukrainian UGS, including 258 million cubic meters in April.

According to ExPro's estimates, by the end of May 2025, gas reserves in Ukrainian UGS could reach nearly 6.6 billion cubic meters, provided stable imports of about 14 million cubic meters per day in recent days.

Additionally, Ukraine is gradually resuming natural gas production, which was disrupted due to extensive Russian attacks in February and March.

Reminder:

Since the beginning of the year and as of May 5, natural gas imports to Ukraine amounted to 1.12 billion cubic meters. This figure has increased nearly tenfold compared to the same period last year.

"Ukrgasvydobuvannya" lost 50% of its gas production due to Russian attacks in February, with more than half of the losses already recovered.

Due to Russian attacks on gas infrastructure, Ukraine plans to significantly increase gas imports in 2025.
