A horrific murder of a 12-year-old boy occurred in Shakhtarske, Dnipropetrovsk region, as a result of a stabbing incident. A 43-year-old man with a criminal history has been detained on suspicion of committing the crime.

The incident took place on the evening of April 19, as reported by the Main Department of the National Police of Dnipropetrovsk region.

A conflict erupted between the boy and the suspect in the stairwell of an apartment building, during which the man stabbed the child in the abdomen.

Despite medical assistance, the young student succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Law enforcement officials who arrived at the crime scene seized the knife and quickly identified the attacker, who turned out to be the boy's neighbor.

The police have opened a criminal case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which addresses intentional murder of a minor, with penalties ranging from 10 to 15 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

The suspect has been formally charged, and a preventive measure of detention has been applied.

Additionally, recently in Odesa region, law enforcement detained the mother of a one-year-old boy who died in the hospital due to multiple injuries. Police established that the 26-year-old woman had physically abused her son when he cried.
