Assault on Tram Driver in Kyiv

A passenger in Kyiv has been arrested for assaulting a tram driver with a knife.

A shocking incident occurred in Kyiv where a 32-year-old passenger first got into a fight with a tram driver and then attacked him with a knife. The assailant faces up to eight years in prison. 
This incident unfolded in the Desnyanskyi district, prompting an emergency medical response to hospitalize a 43-year-old tram driver suffering from serious knife wounds to the chest and face.
Authorities discovered that the driver asked the passenger to exit the tram at the final stop, which led to a heated argument escalating into a physical confrontation. During the altercation, the assailant stabbed the driver twice in the chest and face. The injured driver will require extensive recovery time.
Police quickly identified and located the assailant, a 32-year-old local resident, who was then arrested under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He has been charged under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for intentional grievous bodily harm, with a penalty of up to eight years imprisonment.
